e-dream-s functions for the betterment of education, cross cultural communications and globalization as a non-profit organization

e-dream-s is a non-profit organization that affiliates people all over the world who are very much concerned with the betterment of our societies.  e-dream-s believes that it is important to build up not only domestic networks but also international networks among those who pay attention to education,intercultural communication, and "globalization" to combine the widerange of forces to propel the betterment of the world.  By building up those networks, we share the problem and difficulties that our societies have, and will be able to overcome those difficulties by driving ourselves to the contribution for the bettermentof our societies.  These networks enable us to cooperate and work together with people from different fields and to share useful information one another for the betterment of education, cross cultural communications and globalization in every part of the world.

Historical Background of e-dream-s

  ACROSS (the Association of English Teachers for CROSS Cultural Communication), the founding body of e-dream-s, has been offering opportunities of in-servicetrainings or seminars for English teachers for twenty-five years.  We believe that we have been contributing for the betterment of English education in Japan through these in-service trainings such as voice training, drama play, and speech writing, international teacher exchange programs.  The reason that we have been offering these activities is that we think that these trainings are fundamental requirements for competent English teachers who will be potencies for the betterment of English teaching in Japan.

  However, it is true that English education cannot solely be a powerful drive force for the betterment of education.  We need to establish an organization that combines social networks of cooperation for the betterment of the society.  Here comes e-dream-s into existence.

  The fundamental conceptof e-dream-s is based on (a) education plays an important role for the betterment of our societies, (b) a new paradigm of educational concept should be built, and (c) a reconstruction of the contents of current education and its implementation should be done for the betterment of our societies.
